**Short answer:** Your Address Book lives in your account settings. Use **Add New Delivery Address** to save where you want your shipments to go, then pick that address when you create a shipment. Always include the house number, a postal code and a local phone number.

## Where to find it

Open **account settings** and go to **Address Book**. You'll see every delivery address you've saved, each on its own card, plus a button to **Add New Delivery Address**. You can save as many as you need — home, office, a family member's place — and one of them is marked **Primary**, the one we suggest first when you create a shipment.

## Adding a new address

You can either let Google's address autocomplete fill in the address as you type, or switch to manual entry and type each field yourself. Manual entry is there for a reason: Google Maps doesn't work everywhere, so if autocomplete can't find your street, just enter it by hand.

The form asks for the **recipient name**, a short **tag** like "Home" or "Office" so you can tell your addresses apart, the **address itself** (street, country, state or province, city and postal code), a **phone number** with the country code, and an optional **VAT / Tax Number**.

Below the form you'll see a **map preview** with the latitude and longitude of the address you entered — a quick way to check you've landed on the right street before you save. If the map doesn't load or the pin looks off, that's usually Google Maps coverage rather than a problem with your address.

## Three things worth getting right

- **Include the house or building number.** An address without one is the most common reason a courier can't find the recipient.
- **Always add a postal code.** International shipments need it — carriers use it for routing, for customs and for the correct rate.
- **Use a local phone number.** If anything comes up in customs, or the courier needs to arrange delivery, they will call or message the recipient. A local number is far more likely to be reachable.

## The optional VAT / Tax Number field

Some countries ask the person receiving an import for a personal or business tax identification number before customs will release the package. If your destination is one of them, save that number here with the address, before you create your shipment.

We don't keep a list of which countries require one, and the rules change — the official customs website for your destination country is the place to check. For more, see "Import VAT, GST and recipient tax IDs".

## What the address card shows

Once you save an address, its card can show a few tags:

| Tag | What it means |
|---|---|
| **Primary** | Your default address, suggested first at checkout |
| **Address verified** | An automatic check (EasyPost) recognized the address |
| **Unverified** | The automatic check couldn't confirm it |
| **Remote area** | The destination is outside the courier's standard delivery zone |
| **View on Maps** | Opens the saved location in Google Maps |

**About "Unverified":** the verification service doesn't cover every country. If you know the address is correct, you can safely ignore an Unverified tag and ship to it.

**About the remote area notice:** couriers charge extra to deliver outside their standard zones. The fee varies by courier and is typically $40–$50. Seeing it here, before you ship, means no surprise at checkout. To see which destinations we serve, read "Where we ship from and to".

## Common questions

**Can I ignore the "Unverified" tag?**
Yes, if you're confident the address is right. The check doesn't cover every country, so plenty of good addresses come back Unverified.

**Why do you need a phone number?**
Because the courier needs a way to reach the recipient, especially during customs clearance. Use a local number.

**Do I have to fill in the VAT / Tax Number?**
Only if your destination country requires a tax ID from the recipient. Otherwise leave it empty.

**The map preview is blank or shows the wrong spot. Is my address wrong?**
Not necessarily. Google Maps coverage varies by country. Check the text fields; if they're right, go ahead and save.

**I can't add an address. What now?**
Try manual entry instead of autocomplete. If it still won't save, email our support team with the full address and we'll take a look.
