What is an EEI form and do I need one?

EEI filing is typically mandatory for exports from the United States that involve a single item that is worth more than $2,500 USD, as mandated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The process involves filing an Electronic Export Information (EEI) form to the appropriate government agency.

It is advisable to split your package into multiple parts if the total value exceeds $2,500 for compliance with regulations. If repacking isn't feasible, then an EEI (Electronic Export Information) form must be completed, incurring a fee of $40. Packages that require an EEI form can only be shipped via specific carriers.
